Q & A
Who is the training for?
The training is for all levels of fitness. If you are a walker or an experienced runner looking for a personal best will be provided a personal training program for this specific event.
Do I have to run to participate in the training?
No, we can provide you with the training if you would like to walk either of the two events.
Do I need specific running shoes for this training?
Yes, you will need to have a pair of running shoes We will be discussing proper shoe wear and clothing in the 2nd week of training.
Do I need special running clothing?
No this is not necessary, although you will feel much more comfortable with clothing that will "wick" sweat away from the body. We will be discussing this topic in the 2nd week of the training.
How many days per week will I be required to run?
This will depend on your specific goals. In order to simply complete the 5km and 15km race, you will need to run a minimum of 3 days per week. If you are targeting a specific time goal, 4+ days would be a more suitable number. The fitness level of an individual will also factor into the training and we can adjust the training program as the weeks go on.
Will I be running alone?
Not really. You will always be running with the whole training group each Monday evening and we will try to place you into a group similar to your fitness level. The whole group will be running along the same route or portions of the same route to keep the group together. Usually during the evening training run the groups will spread out and you may find yourself running alone for part of the run. The trainer will usually run with a group or an individual for part of the training run and make sure that the last people are supported.
What is the agenda for each evening?
Each evening will consist of a 15-30min information talk followed by a specific training run.
Do you have other group training runs?
Yes, we have a group on Saturday's called the OUT AND BACK TRAINING CLUB. This training run is to help you increase your weekly training time an distance and test your fitness...a little. For more information on this weekly run click here.
